As the Corona virus pandemic continues to consume our country and the true nature of this contagion is becoming more fully appreciated, we read every day of the selfless dedication of the healthcare workers who are on the front lines of this crisis. While our healthcare workers are well deserving of our praise, there is another group of “essential” workers that are also working long hours at personal sacrifice. These are the workers that staff warehouses and fulfillment centers throughout Indiana and the United States that ensure that the food, medical supplies, home healthcare products and other necessities of life continue to reach those in need.
At IDS, our warehouse crew is working every day to maintain the flow of everyday items that many take for granted. While much of the US economy is closed, what parts do still operate, owe their business continuity to the logistics workers in our national supply chains. These individuals come to work every day on empty roads, passing by closed storefronts while the rest of the population is being told to stay home. IDS is going to extreme lengths to ensure that our facilities offer a safe and protective environment for all of our employees who must make the journey to work each day.
Everyone at IDS appreciates the generosity of our customers who also recognize the efforts being made by all IDS employees. From providing meals and drinks to donating personal protective gear such as non-medical grade face masks, gloves and other items, their outreach has not gone unnoticed nor unappreciated. At his daily press conference, Governor Holcomb of Indiana, made special note to thank those “essential” workers in logistics and supply chains across the State.
While we continue to have a deep appreciation for the healthcare workers taking great personal risk on the front-lines of the battle in this medical crisis, remember those working in eCommerce and supply chain whose efforts are keeping the country running. It is important to understand that there are many heroes in this pandemic and we are all doing everything that we can in order to show our gratitude and recognition for those who may typically be under appreciated. Thank you to everyone who has continued to work and help to keep what remains of our economy operating, we truly appreciate all of your hard work. We will come out of this crisis a better society, with greater appreciation for all workers.
