IDS is proud to feature Mark Collum Jr. for this month’s employee spotlight. Marks story is a great one. He has worked with IDS on and off for over ten years as he progressed his way to earning the position of warehouse manager of our Plainfield, Indiana fulfillment center.
Mark started his logistics career in 2006, working as a temporary worker in our warehouse. After two years, Mark left IDS for a while before returning as an assistant lead on the warehouse floor in 2011. It was after that Mark decided to pursue another passion of his, IT services. He went back to school to become certified in a variety of IT disciplines and worked for a local company in IT until his contract with that company ended and Mark returned to join the IDS team again.
“One of the reasons that brought me back to IDS was the company’s commitment to employees and their families. When my contract ended with the IT consulting firm, I knew that I wanted to move back into logistics and was drawn to IDS because of the culture. There is a culture of hard work and dedication that runs through all areas of the company, and a dedication to the employees that makes the work that we do seem more personal.” – Mark Collum Jr.
Mark returned to IDS in August of 2017 again as a lead. However, due to Marks work ethic and commitment to excellence, he quickly worked his way up the ranks. First he was promoted to supervisor before being promoted again to Warehouse Manager, the role he currently holds.
Mark’s hobbies and passions include playing in a softball league, hunting, and his family. He and his wife have 3 children under the age of four and Mark spends a lot of his free time playing with his children and helping keep up with the huge work load that raising 3 kids under 4 years old brings.
